Deep Purple are considered to be among the pioneers of heavy metal and modern hard rock. The English rock band formed in Hertford 1968. Along with Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath, Deep purple were known as the "unholy trinity of British hard rock and heavy metal in the early to mid-seventies".
In 1975, Deep purple were listed in the Guiness Book of World Records as "the globe's loudest band" for a 1972 concert at London's Rainbow Theatre. With over 100 million copies of their albums sold worldwide, Deep Purple have established themselves as a staple of the rock era.
